Herta Park

Herta is a retired elementary school principal of the Toronto Board of Education, Toronto, Canada. During her time as a primary school principal, Ms. Park mentored student teachers from both Canadian and Japanese universities. Her "Catch 'Em Being Good" teaching philosophy has been taught to many through university lectures. In 2007, Ms. Park volunteered in South Africa’s Get Ahead Project schools as a remedial teacher and in the capacity of a teacher mentor for fellow educators. She currently sits on the Mayors Advisory Council for Adults 55 Plus, the Committee for Senior Olympics in Waterloo Wellington District. Ms. Park is the New Members Chair for the Kitchener Chapter of the Canadian Federation of University Women and the past president of Belleville chapter of Canadian Federation of University Women.

Whitney Mcinnis

Whitney has been involved with charitable organizations in her native town of Hong Kong. Her experiences range from running physically disabled children's activities at the only children's hospital in Hong Kong, to AIDS research in China with UNICEF. Whitney is currently pursuing a double major at McGill University in sociology and art history. Whitney promoted and worked on community outreach programs in high school, including founding an Amnesty International chapter. With a couple years of PR experience behind her, she proved to be a valuable asset in co-chairing GuluWalk Day Montreal. She is a past Vice-President (2005-2006) and President (2006-2007) of the McGill University chapter.

Kirk Newcombe

Kirk graduated in December 2007 from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University with a double concentration in Finance and Accounting and is currently a Research Associate at C.F.G. Heward Investment Management in Montreal. Although Kirk was born in Québec, he grew up in a small town in Maine where he was involved in a number of local service projects. He has been involved with Shelter Wakadogo in various facilities since its inception, serving as President and VP Finance of the McGill chapter. Kirk is currently responsible for the design of promotional materials and maintenance of the website.

Sophie Kaftal

Sophie has a BSc at McGill University with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Art History and Communications. Sophie Kaftal helped design and conceptualize our website, and oversees all graphic material put out by our organization. She also played a major role in the coordination of our 2006 gala, a Bittersweet Event, in Montreal. Sophie is a past VP Finance (2004-2006) and VP Logistics and Development (2005-2006) of the McGill University chapter. She now works for a future-focused marketing and branding consultancy in New York City.
